Canada Day is celebrated every July 1st. It celebrates the anniversary of the Constitution act that joined three separate colonies of the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick into one single dominion within the British Empire called Canada.
This was my first time celebrating Canada Day. There were a lot of activities in the Waterfront. It was hard to find parking so we had to park a little futher away from the waterfront.
It was also the annual Halifax Ribfest. It is four days of ribs and entertainment in the Waterfront. Rain or shine, they will serve you ribs.
There are several vendors you can choose from. If you don't know which vendor to get the ribs, just go to the one with the longest line up. They also only accept cash but there is an ATM nearby. As a filipina, I think these ribs go well with rice but unfortunately they don't serve rice. I was planning on bringing my own rice but no outside food is allowed. lol
There are tables and chairs where you can sit. Of course, you have to clean as you go. You can bring wet wipes since no one eats ribs with a plastic fork. That just won't work. The fork is for your coleslaw or if you ordered pulled pork instead of ribs. By the way, they make really good coleslaw.
After this, we went to the waterfront to get dessert and just wander around. I'm pretty sure there is a Canada Day parade and other activities but as usual, I am drawn to food so I only went to the Ribfest. If you want to see more, please see the video below from my Youtube Channel.
