Monday, July 4, 2016 - This is it pansit! After 2 years of waiting, I can finally live and work permanently in Canada. This is the day that my dreams will be realized.
My flight schedule is 1 am in July 4. I am a bit nervous because I will be flying alone and I have 2 huge luggages. We got in the airport 6 hours before my flight. I know I am too early but I just want to make sure I won't miss my flight.
lMy aunt, cousin and mom were in the airport to send me off. I also did not expect that my friends came to see me as well.
I checked-in around 9 pm, paid the 750 Php terminal fee. I passed by immigration and then looked for my boarding gate. My first stop-over will be the Incheon Airport in South Korea. I met Ms. Marilyn who is also waiting for the same plane.
Around 7 am, the plane arrived in Incheon Airport. I had to look for the Transfer counter where I can request for another boarding pass to Toronto Pearson Airport. I had to take their shuttle train to go to their other terminal. I am also impressed by the accuracy of the information that they give me whenever I asked them for directions.
Before I looked for my boarding gate, I also helped Ms. Marilyn find her boarding gate. She is bound for Dallas. When we found our respective boarding gates, since we have a lot of time to spare, we had lunch together. I thought that I only have to wait for 8 hours before boarding the plane to Toronto but there was a delay. Instead of 3 pm, it was rescheduled to 6 pm.
The plane left S. Korea around 7 pm already. It was not easy to wait for almost 12 hours and I have to sit on the plane for another 12 hours.
I did not get the chance to choose my seat and unfortunately, I got the window seat. I know the window seat is the perfect seat to look outside. However, not for a 12 hour flight with 2 other people beside you. If you need to go to the lavatory, they will need to stand up to make a way for you which is very inconvenient. I had to drink just little water to make sure I won't go to the lavatory a lot. I also spilled my orange juice on my seat (so clumsy, I know). It was not the best flight experience but dinner was really good.
Last Stop: Halifax
It was just a 2 hour flight to Halifax and I feel so exhausted. Around 2 am of July 5, 2016 (Halifax time), I finally arrived in Nova Scotia. The total travel time was 32 hours but it was all worth it. May was waiting for me at the airport. I really don't know her personally. This was my first time meeting her. When I got my visa last March 2016, I knew I am going alone. I don't know anybody in Nova Scotia so I send messages to Filipinos living in Halifax until May replied and told me that I can rent in her apartment and help me start my life in Canada. God is really good. He sent an angel to my rescue.
This was the biggest risk I took in my life so far. Moving alone to the other side of the Earth is not easy. It will take a lot of courage and faith in God. I never thought that this dream came true and this is all because of HIM.
For all the dreamers out there, whatever your dreams are, don't ever give up. It may take time but you will eventually get there if you want to. You only live once so go for it and don't forget to pray!
